James Branch Cabell among other things

Growing up in my college years I stumbled upon James Branch Cabell's writings. Hes the 1920's American author who became immensely popular after publishing Jurgen in 1919 (see the wikipeida)

SciFi and everything else.

Is it pronounced si-fi or is it Ski-fi. I remember in a Monty python sketch michael palin as some kind of unctous tv host and huckster pronounces it as ski-fi. I always thought that as funny. It remind me of all ingratiating salesman sounding like they know about something they are selling but they dont know too much about it.
